No King William Fair in 2021
The City and the Fiesta Commission announced today that the 2021 Fiesta would be moved from April to mid-June, due to coronavirus concerns. Our big neighborhood event -- the King William Fair and Parade -- won't be held at all this year.
The King William Fair organization has posted this announcement on its website:
"The 2021 King William Fair, an official Fiesta® San Antonio event since 1968, will not take place this year due to the health and safety concerns we have for our community as we continue to fight COVID-19. We look forward to celebrating with you at our next King William Fair on Saturday, April 9, 2022.
"We will be in touch throughout the month of February 2021 with all of our vendors, volunteers, sponsors, contractors, Parade participants, entertainers, neighbors, and community stakeholders to shift our energy and resources on planning a healthy and successful 2022 King William Fair. In the meantime, please stay safe and keep the spirit of Fiesta alive in your heart!"
And here's the statement released by the Fiesta Commission:
"After consulting with The City of San Antonio and based on support and recommendations from Metro Health, and Dr. Makary, Fiesta Commission's consultant, we must announce that Fiesta San Antonio will be postponed to June.
"The Fiesta® San Antonio Commission’s goal has always been to conduct Fiesta in 2021. The June dates have been selected so that Fiesta can continue its mission of supporting many local non-profit organizations, while maintaining its #1 priority, the health and safety or all Fiesta’s attendees, volunteers, staff, and community.
"We are working with various officials, Metro Health, Fiesta Participating Member Organizations (PMOs), sponsors, vendors, suppliers, volunteers, etc., to determine the health and safety protocols, if any, needed for Fiesta events moving forward.
"Because each Fiesta PMO has its own unique event operations and circumstances, unfortunately, some Fiesta events will not occur this year. Please give those organizations some time to prepare to address tickets issues."
